WHERE MAY THE LORD BE FOUND

It seems quite obvious that the Lord would hardly want us to destroy his very abode. You are the Temple of God and the spirit of God dwells in you?

If someone parades the Temple of God, God will destroy it; For the Temple of God is holy, you are this temple. It’s a simple truth, but maybe a man in a million is doing his real search for God inside.

We prefer to run towards a human-built structure and offer an external cult to a God who lives in a stone temple; The Mystics tell us that the Kingdom of God is in all of us and that the true church, temple, mosque, synagogue or Gurdwara is the human form.

The outside cult, it is said, is futile. St. Paul continues: “And what agreement does the Temple of God have with the idols? Is this the model of the living God; As God has said, I will live there; I will be their God and they will be my people”

In the same way Guru Nanak said: The Lord who gave life to all creation, which is a supreme gift, which nourishes and encourages everyone, resides in the human body. “And Kabir Sahib said: Oil, and the fire Spark is in the Flint, in the same way that your beloved resides in your own body.

Wake him up if you can. As the pupil is in the eye, the creator in the body is also. The ignorant does not know this secret and travels the outside world. Looking for him in vain.

The one you tried to find in the four corners of the earth, it is inside; you don’t see him because he lives behind the veil of illusion. “And the guru Arjan Dev tells us:” A great wonder is this: in the same house live the two-the soul and its Lord, always in company of one and the other, and yet it is strange, they never speak to each other. “If someone threw a Stone through the window of our church or our temple, we could follow him angrily and punish him severely, as it is suitable for a “temple Defiler.” But every day we destroy the true Temple of God, the human body, by all sorts of thoughts, words and actions. We pollute this body with unspeakable poisons in the name of food and we think nothing of the ingestion of harmful substances and drugs if it provided us with a momentary emotion.

We seek the house of the most high Lord through the physical universe, without however turning to his true abode in all of us.

We foolishly believe that the Mystics and the Saints speak only in a figurative way when they tell us that the Lord is inside.

We cannot grasp the literal meaning of their words. Bulleh Shah proclaims: The Lord does not reside in the mosques, the Kaaba is not his abode either; The Koran and other scriptures do not have it and it is not found in the prayers either;

The pilgrimages did not close me to him and I carried the work of the voyage for nothing. But when Bulleh found his tutor, all the attachments disappeared to the magic touch of the guru. “And, further: ” I read the Scriptures, the Vedas and the Koran, and I was sick of reading them over and over again. I knelt in prayer until my knees were almost exhausted, all in vain. For God does not live in Mecca. No, not in the pilgrimage centres.

Mysticism teaches that the human form is the microcosm in which all this macrocosm is found. The human form contains the soul, the soul of this divine ocean which is God. Every drop has the potential to blend into the ocean; every man however, has inside him the potential to return the LORD.

Our body is not only a cavern to contain the soul; It also contains the indescribable and infinite Lord within it. “
